Ugh. I may not have a 'real' car, but I know what kind of forums/people I like. Right now, the number of both of those is dropping and it sucks.
That big Canadian Rodder forum has made it so that any tech posts that might be from guys who do this sort of thing for a living are against the rules. Why? Because it may be free advertising for their shops. Also, car shows that aren't free to enter are not allowed to be posted about either. Um excuse me what now?
It's not like I was on there more than once every couple of weeks, but if it's just going to be a bunch of retired guys with turn-key glass-bodied cars talking about their winter homes in Florida, count me out.
This may not be a busy forum, and I may not be a "LOSER" in the metal...but damn, at least I can talk about anything I want to without having the mod or admin shut my post down.
Ouch! I find senority rules and post whores dominate on most forums, most.So being a house Dad ;wife works ,I am on this thing.Have met some in person from this large car hobby. Jobn
I used to spend a lot of time on CR and have made many friends on there and met lots of them.
The rules are more complex than most forums because of paid advertisers and sponsors of the tours the admin organizes.
Whether I agree with the rules on there or not or anybody else for that matter doesn't matter because the guy who pays for the site set them out and really he's all that matters.
The problem with CR is the post ho's and the 'shop built rod but know it all' posters,sometimes one in the same. and the people who think it necessary to point out grammar problems and become self appointed moderators but, don't have any inclination or basic knowledge to start their own forums.
The smaller forums are becoming more popular because they lack the sstrict regime and b/s of the larger ones.
As a self admitted LOSER I don't have those problems,I leave them for the make believe winners.
I dont understand why Frank (Can Rodder admin) has the rules like he does. No mention of most shows, no mention of where you work....NO PMs...That one is really weird.....Hell, you can do more on these free forums than you can do on his, which he pays for.
I think he is a control freak, has to be in total command....

I've met Frank several times and in honesty he's one of the nicest and definitely most knowledgeable Rodders I've had the pleasure to meet through a forum.
Not sure of underlying reasons but I'd be pushed to think he's a control freak.
I can't explain why he does what he does and I'm not even going to try but in honesty none of his rules have ever affected me enough not to go on there at any time.
The lack of builds and tech articles is the only reason I don't use it as much and I still blame that on the wannabe moderators and post ho's(mostly old farts anyway).
I've had my run ins over there but I did meet Bob because of Canadian Rodder. That was just before the p.m. option was pulled. And dont mention any other web forums that's a big no no. Right Stroker?
