It's a sealed deal. This strange thing will be coming home soon, and we even found the ownership in the glovebox. It'll be a very long-term kinda project, since there's a lot to do. It's quite solid for being parked on grass for 8+ years, and remarkably complete. I was told it was an 80, but it's actually a 78...which is better IMO because it's far less high-tech. It's carbed, has a points dizzy, and a decent auto transmission. It'll be home in a couple weeks, and I can take some better pics.
So...I'm getting closer to an actual LOSER-approved car, lol ;).
Congrats on the project!! I say if it turns your crank that's all that matters... I like it cuz its unique, and you just don't see 'em. What are your plans? Are you gonna restore it, or could there be some modifications made in the future?
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing more as you go... remember HAVE FUN AND DO IT YOUR WAY!
First thing I'm going to tackle is to try and get the engine going. If it runs semi-decent, than it'll be the powerplant of choice for a while. In the same yard, there are a couple of Ram D50s, and they have a 2.6L version of the same engine, so I may try to negotiate one of those for a bit more oomph.
I'm in the mood for a long term restomod kinda thing, but not a pebble-beach style car. A basic stripdown, fix the rotted metal underneath, and a bit (lot) of lowering, lol. My colt will be switching to full-time daily driver duties in the spring, so I don't feel the urge for big power with this one. The only BIG thing I have planned is a swap to dual sidedraft carbs. I have everything I need to make a manifold already.
The stock paint is in decent shape, and there's a bit of 70's patina, so I'll probably just leave it as is :).
The funniest thing about checking it out last sat was that we found the ownership in the glovebox! I took it as a sign from the car gods ;).
I'm going back this weekend to finish up the welding on a buddy's Datsun 260 (his family owns the yard), and should have an ownership in my name by noon on sat. Can't wait!
A pleasant surprise is that it uses a version of the A904 automatic, so there's all sorts of repair/upgrade parts available.

Jacked the car up today, to free it up...and all the rear 4-link points fell off :(. It's terminal, unfortunately. That sort of thing is beyond my skill level, so I won't be bringing it home.
It sucks, but I don't want to pay for a project over my head...again.
Been there a few times most recently with the Monarch but the one that burns the most for me was a 67 Lincoln limo. I still brought it home but she was too far gone to save. Sucks man but I'm sure there's something else out there calling your name.
