It's in a buddy's shop for body and paint, going to come back out the same way. Drivers side center pillar needs to be moved in and angled because the doors have never fit right. The car was a pretty big turd when we got it and it was built quick.
Here's a couple pics of what it looked like when we bought it. The floors were pretty ropey, the center pillar moved with back door. The hood looked like it was hacked away at with an axe and has never fit right. I got a good hood for it this time around.
Might actually be my favorite car I have seen in a long time.... I love it, it has the coolest presence cruising down the road....I pass your place a lot in the summer, not in a creepy stalker kinda way, and love seeing it sitting outside ready to cruise...
So its getting done the same, but just "right" this time around?
Do you mind me asking who did your striping?
Hey thanks Dave awesome compliment man, stop in for a beer sometime. Pete's being dead serious he really knows a lot of kats that can lay down lines. The dude that did the Edsel is Paul Elias and he's local, I can try and get his number if ya want it.
I assumed i had typed stripper, not striper...which happens often lol...long night.
Figured Pete was trying to get me in the doghouse with the wife!
No rush on a number, I have the truck apart in the garage right now and it won't be back together until closer to spring... I still have to gather up some more front end parts and pull the box off the get the sides fixed. Once it gets resembled im getting it shot in the John Deere Blitz black, then I will be looking at getting some art done on it lol.
Thanks Gary, appreciate it.
Dave
Is it big money to have it done Gary?
I'm looking at outlining some scallops and then maybe some classic lines like in your first pic, something on the tailgate, and maybe the hood...
I honestly don't know if I should be setting aside a few hundred or a thousand bucks to do it lol...
I haven't got a clue
Been going out to the body shop last couple weekends for 3-4hrs to pull more stainless. I'd go out more often and stay longer but it's about 2.5hrs travel each time I go. It's staying in his shop till spring so there's no real hurry to get it done.
I'm thinking about using a 58 back bumper, my 59 bumper is a turd. The tail pan will need to be cut up but I think it'll be a kool yet go unoticed type of mod.
You can see the braces that were used to get it straight.
In the interest of building a better driver new rubbers are going in, the old ones were mashed together with silicone. These rubbers weren't available last time the car was done. Man o man I'm looking forward to a dry floor.
So I got it back at the top of the month but the process to get all the stainless back on is killing me. Most of the clips that can be easily bought won't work on it.
It's a little more complete now this pic was taken about 2 weeks ago
