Spent the majority of the day yesterday at the hospital getting my finger sewn back together after slicing it to the bone from back of the hand to the fingernail. The skin pretty much peeled off like a banana peel. Happened while opening some supply boxes in our loading dock, at my government job. 12 years of working as a mechanic part time, and 25 years of miscellaneous farm work...and I cut myself opening a box. Sigh.
The cut went through all the flesh on the top of my finger, the doctor had to line up my knuckle creases before he could sew it up, like lining up wallpaper, lol.
Now, as for tomorrow... I'm hopping on a plane and heading to Florida for a week. We're going down to visit my mom, which means I get a bit of warm weather :).
Geez that sucks... ouch! I've been there... perhaps not quite as bad... but I slipped with a knife years ago also while opening a box at my old job (shipping warehouse)... it called for a hospital trip, stitches and glue... but I got lucky. Man when I think back, I've had lots of close calls that could have ended badly... Work safe everyone! I'm always a little extra cautious when using a utility knife now...
Hope you heal up quickly and enjoy your trip to the South!!
SUCK IT UP. I almost cut the tip off my finger Thursday sucked the blood off soaked it in peroxide stuck a couple of band aids on it and went back to work. ALLS GOOD. Off work today (Friday) go out to cut wood hand feels all sticky guess what damn finger blood all over again. Back to the peroxide and band aids. We need to hot rod skin. It rips and cuts way to easy. If it was manufactured by any company they would have been sued out of existence by now.
LOL I am eating super and reading this. There is a line in a 'Max Webster' tune ;oh yeah in "Here Among The Cats"--------"Should have been a Doctor" lol

I had a 23 altered fall on me after jacking it it up once. Got two black eyes for work Monday morning. Nice lol. Hate cutting myself though.......oh...throwing up again.
Was pretty painless actually. The skin was pretty red, so they had to come out to let the rest heal properly. A quick snip with some tiny scissors, and a gentle tug with some tweezers. No more trouble than pulling off a band-aid :).
