So, got a random offer out of the blue on my unfinished Monte. He will give me cash and his car. its not huge cash, 2k...  but the car is a clean solid driver....  i miss having a big cruiser, and this is kinda neat, easy lowering, cut coils out back, crank down front torsion bars and done. Maybe some glasspacks and some funky lace paint that i have always wanted to do......

Monte has all parts to complete as a 700+hp streetcar, but lots left to do to finish it. Im kinda sick of looking t it and dealing with it.

opinions?

Here is the trade BTW, 71 Eldorado Rag top

And yes I know its 500ci powering the wrong damn wheels lol. As its not a tire spinning hot rod that doesn't overly concern me tho.

Thanks! I think it may be a smarter choice then the Monte in trying to finish, with a stance change and maybe some bellflower exhaust tips I think it could be cool... kinda stuck with the hubcaps that are on it unfortunately. Nobody makes wheels for the goofy fwd offset these things have. But I can live with that.

Well, I'm installing the hood on the Monte tommorow, loading the rest of the Turbo stuff in the trunk. Sat morn my buddy will come out early and pick up the Monte with his tow truck and we will head out to get the BigCad unless something drastic changes between now and then. Will hit the License bureau sat and get it plated so I can get some cruising in this weekend. Hope this goes as planned lol.

Nice! A buddy of mine has a 70 DeVille convertible on bags with stock Caddy wire wheels, and it's pretty fun to cruise in. I say go for it.

It's not about owning all the toys, it's about getting to play with them all before you kick it ;).

Would love to bag this, but I suspect the FWD layout would be a bitch to deal with.... yah, I have a thing for big, slow and low cars lol.

It would appear that i AM pimp enough for this....

picked it up this morn, runs nice, drives nice. Rear suspension is soooooft, i cant fimd a listing for rear coil springs so if anyone has any advice there i would appeciate it.  I cranked the front torsion bars all the way down as soon as i got home as the nose was pointimg at the sky, so that helped the stance a bit.

Parked beside my DD/winter car it looks hillarious.....

Thanks man, got a little bit of work ahead, the rear suspension is complete junk. With the car in the air I can actually push the axle up 3" by hand, so needless to say when its on the ground I can bounce the bumper off the ground. Turns out nobody makes rear coils for it of course. The rebound seems fine, it bounces back up and stops dead so I guess the shocks are OK. They are factory air shocks and the compressor for them doesn't seem to come on. But to me the "bounce test" says they are OK at this point. I have a set of cargo coils from a G-body that look to be the same pigtail top and bottom as the caddy springs, but shorter.....as I was going to cut or heat whatever sprigs I found to get a "taildragger" look I'm hoping these are short enough that I can just leave them alone lol.

I know, lots of guys hate em....but ihave had such a jonesing for them since I was a kid....and I'm sure as **** never going to be able to afford a sled or a shoe box car to have them on an "appropriate" ride so the hell with it.... if it looks like ass they can come back off....couple small holes in a beat up old caddy wont make a difference to me lol.

Don't get me wrong I love them. I'm just not a fan unless there on a 50's car or at the very least early 60's. Even that's a stretch for me if it's not dropped with lakers or a mild kustom.

Bottom line your ride and if you want to be mad and yell at Pete I will too. :)

Lmao..... I actually agree with you 100%... but this car is going to be so god awful tacky anyways, I figure I will finally do bell flowers next.... a complete Hodge podge of 50's and 60's crap on a 70's caddy....
Wait, where do curb feelers fit in? ;)

Had the exhaust done today, Ron over at Midas on bank St. He is a freaking artist, its packaged absolutely beautifully. The welds are perfect and nothing hits, rattles or anything weird.... he loves all sorts of odd **** and his pricing is way lower then expected.... so anyone needs something done, there is my suggestion lol.
On that note, I went 2 1/4 from manifolds to tailpipes, and a pair of 18" thrush glass packs tucked underneath. Not everyone's cup of tea, but god lord it sounds wiked behind 500ci of Caddy......

Your car do what ever. I had a set of dummy spots on my 66 Cutlass. Just mount them as they would be mounted as real operating spots.

Soooo... after replacing all the rear suspension andn4 tires, I figured it was time to deal with the stumble and stall that would randomly appear, before I had the chance, the motor got loud, weird loud....like an exhaust leak under the Carb, low and behold, that's exactly what I was. The little dish that the choke coil fits in had a small hole in it, so I made a plate, some copper rtv, installed plate and no more choke, no more leak. Then moved on to fuel sytem. Replaced some fuel line, filter at the rear, filter at the Carb. Still no change, installed a 3psi elec micro pump tohelp the stock mechanical pump, suddenly its fixed. Drive it for a couple days with no issues, then start feeling bad that I never actually found out what was wrong, decided to poke around some more....well hey, turns out the caddy fuel pump has a filter inside the body. I did not know this....and evidently nobody in the last 43 years knew either. As soon as air touched it it turned to mush...inside the #$%ing pump body. Couldnt come close to getting it all out, so now I need a new pump..... well F that, I swapped the feed going into the mechanical pump to the Carb directly, then swapped the 3psi pump to a 4-7psi pump and called it done, runs mint now. Then decided to replace the dangerously loose wheel bearings, so pulled the knuckls at home, brought into work today, pressed bearings out, pressed new ones in, then reinstalled knuckles tonight....went for a good long blast with the kid and drives mint.....oh and I instyalled terribly tacky dummy spots tonight as well lol.... this has been my week of Cadillac adventures.....all so I can roadtrip to Hawks bury on Sunday! So far road tripping down with me is my previously owned 70 Merc, my also previously owned 71 Comet, my step bro with his heavily chopped 47 Olds sedan, and a lad from work in his 65 Mustang..... and of course my bigpimp Caddy....should be a fun day.
