Well, I've started selling stuff off the car.  Not getting rid of it, just decided to stop rushing myself and pay off my credit card first.  I figure this summer I'll just hang out at car shows to pass the time, instead of obsessing about my project.

Once my card is fixed up, I'll be able to make all sorts of terrible financial decisions again, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ;).

On march 21 (my bday), I'm treating myself to a peek at a 68 Cortina that might be for sale at a yard a buddy knows of. We shall see what happens...

That's good, because if the Cortina doesn't pan out, I know of a 1973 Dodge Colt near London, lol.

I'm still available for towing duties. And now that you helped converting my van to FI, it'll cost you a lot less in gas! :)

Hey, cool man! Thanks Seb!
I'll keep you posted. I really hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing, but a Cortina would be kick ass. It's only about an hour away too ;).

Well, the Cortina fell through. It was pretty deep into the yard, so could have been tough to remove...but they won't sell cars whole :(. It's too bad, because it was tagged as a BC car, so the floors/panels were solid. The glass was good too. Ah well.

I'm going to keep plugging away at the GTI and hopefully safety it before july. The wife wants to check out that new brewery in the Soo...;)

That's the plan!  If the LOSERS are at a show, I'm gonna be there...even if my car is too new to park inside the grounds, haha.

The intake is supposed to show up on wed, then I'm going to re-sort my alternator setup (sold the one that was on it).  I am probably going to convert to a GM 100-amp, using old Rabbit diesel parts (which I have).  I prefer the simplicity of the one-wire alts.

New intake manifold, which will make it easier when I go turbo later.
I didn't want to pay for the fuel rail (extra 200 CDN!), so I made one out of an spare 2000-2005 vw rail. I had to cut the fuel pressure regulator section off and silver soldered a fitting in it's place. Then I took the FPR section, brazed a barb fitting to it, and voila...remote mount (needed to clear the plenum of the intake). It's temporarily mounted to test for leaks (none), but it will eventually end up on the pass strut tower.

Ext_Gate-Manifold.jpg

The turbo is on, and I should be able to start making the downpipe(s) this weekend.  Since it is a bottom-mount turbo manifold, I had to make a new rear engine mount bracket out of 3/8" plate steel.  The stock aluminum one was too thick, so the turbo didn't fit.  Now there is ~0.015" clearance between the housing and the top of the mount.
